Mario Kart DS Contest
In a recent episode of Team Fremont Live we gave listeners a chance to win a copy of Mario Kart DS, simply by sending us any drawing remotely related to the game. Here are the entries:
Entry #1
Hey Guys,
Let me start off with saying that you guys rock and to say thank you for
doing this show. Now I must apologize to you all for not writing in earlier.
And I must also apologize because of my negligence you had to award Lucas a
price. For that I am truly sorry. I will do everything in my power not to
allow that to happen again.
Now for this week's contest, I decided that you all deserve more then just a
picture, you should have a brief description to go along with it. Now
imagine if you will that Mario and Luigi had a third brother, and that this
brother is the biggest loser in the Mushroom Kingdom. I mean he still can't
get past that first little Goomba, in World 1-1 on the original Super Mario
Bros. He's been trying for all these years and he just can't do it. How sad.
And this brother's name is....Lucas, the Not-So Super Mario Brother.
Keep up the good work and have a good Thanksgiving,
Greg

Entry #2
Hey guys its Newman again,
I already got a copy of Mario Kart DS so entering this contest for it would
be pointless but I decided to send you this pic anyways...I didnt make it
but thought you guys would get a kick out of it.
But if nobody is 'creative' enough to be deemed a winner you should give it
to me. I'm sure Lucas would appreciate going back to his loosing streak.

Entry #3
Dear Team Fremont,
I'm just going to get the obvious things out of the way, straight away.
-I'd just like to say, 'great podcast'.
-Shame on you for giving Lucas a prize.
-Congratulation to Hilden for getting married.
Ok... I'm from the UK so entering the competition is probably pointless
'cos the postage to the UK is probably gonna be "an arm and a leg"...anyway...
Also, if there's any grammatical errors in my email it's because I'm English, and since we invented the english language, I'm writing the correct way... moving swiftly on...
This is my drawing using Microsoft Paint. It's a picture of Amanda Tapping she is also from the UK. If you don't like this picture you're unpatriotic and insulting your closest allies, so now I think you have to give me the prize, even though it's gonna cost you a small fortune to send it to me.
Lots of love from your international listener,
Josef Rosie.
PS. I don't have a DS so sending me the game will hopefully give my
wife the incentive she needs to buy me one.

Entry #4
Next time you're in GameStop be sure to pick up the new Miyamoto classic,
Super Mario Suicide:

Entry #5: The Winner
Helloooooo Team Fremont!
My drawing isn't really Mario-related, but it does feature a car crash.
There's a bit of a backstory, so I'll start with that.
My friend Misty was in a lil' fender-bender some time ago. The kicker is, it
was about a month before she would be 3 years accident-free and her
insurance premium would drop. The accident was nothing serious, she just
rear-ended another vehicle.
So she gets out of her car to be sure the other people are ok and to
exchange information. She's greeted by a rather genial fellow who just keeps
saying "Ees ok! Ees ok! Vamonos! Vamonos! Ees ok!" and waving his hands and smiling. She then notices 3 or 4 other people getting out of the car and
sort of milling around. She tries to explain to the gentleman that it may
not, in fact, be ok as his fender has a pretty decent dent in it, but makes
no progress since she doesn't speak Mexican. Somewhere during this exchange,
the words "no green card" are uttered and she realizes she's hit a carload
of illegal aliens.
Fortune truly smiles on Misty, she agrees that "ees ok" and they go their
seperate ways.
I decided to animate a re-enactment of the accident, but I didn't have a
copy of Flash. (I wouldn't have known how to use it if I did, but one thing
at a time...) So I did the only thing I knew how to do. I drew an animation
frame-by-frame in paint, then created an animated GIF. I then put it on it's
own HTML page with a MIDI of the Mexican Hat Dance playing in the
background.
To enjoy this as the author originally intended, first play the MIDI. Then
while the MIDI is playing watch the GIF. I thought it was funny, anyway...
later guys!
Trashcanmoses

LATE ENTRY
It seems that Josef's girlfriend was so shamed by his entry that she decided to one-up him (pun intended). Unfortunately, we already gave the game away to Trashcanmoses, but we liked her picture so much, we wanted to post it anyway. Here is her late entry:
Hi guys,
Last week my husband Joe sent in an entry of Amanda Tapping in an
American flag.
As much as I love him I have to say that it was a pathetic effort!
....So I thought I'd rival him with an ACTUAL Mario picture!
Here they are on their day off, going by the names Maria and Louise,
spanking some top quality English booty. (patriotic reference!) And you
thought they were plumbers!
Please read this out as I want to see Joe's face when he realizes my
entry is better than his!
Thanks, keep up the good work.
Sophie Rosie

What can we say, Josef? You're a fool if you ever let this one go.
