Halo 2 Midnight Madness

Hype. You bought into it and so did we.

During the weeks prior to the release of Halo 2, every gaming store in town, and even big box stores like Best Buy, announced that they would be opening up their stores at the stroke of midnight on November 9th to sell Halo 2 to throngs of eager fans.

But would people actually show up? I mean, we're talking Halo 2 here, not Star Wars or Beatles reunion tickets. Has our little secret society really reached that point where people would skip school or work to stay up and wait in line for a video game?

Absolutely.

To prove it, we headed on down to our local mall and snapped some pictures for those of you who may have missed it.

Here you see the mall parking lot at about 11:40pm. Surely all these people are trying to beat last call at Applebee's right?

Nope. Apparently the lure of cheap domestic beer and chicken strips doesn't appeal to these folks. They were indeed waiting in line to get in as much game time as possible.

Here's a shot from the back of the line...you know... where we were. Apparently we underestimated the eagerness of the geek. You see, getting a twenty-something mama's boy out of the basement with a video game is as simple as dangling cheese in front of a mouse.

And finally, John couldn't resist partaking in the goofy absurdity of it all. Here he is riding the dinosaur with his copy of Halo 2, grinning like the geek we know he is.

So there you have it. We assume most of you probably already have your copies and are kicking Covenant ass, though you may not have braved the army of pimply-necked man-childs to obtain those copies. That's why we're here. We love you.
