TV Japan

I'm going to be out of town for the next few days for a funeral, so this space will be even dustier than usual.

With that in mind, over the past couple of years I've had people request a copy of the lyrics for TV Japan, the theme song to Team Fremont Live. The story of how these lyrics came about is actually pretty funny. Stone Nowhere was scheduled to go into the studio, but we still didn't have lyrics for TV Japan, other than the chorus, which is simply "Hey...TV Japan, now." So the night before we were supposed to head into the studio to record the song, all four of us gathered around the PC in our practice space and each yelled out random lines as I typed them down. The results are below, and I've tried to remember who came up with each line (Massey: Singer, Yeske: Guitar, Scotty: Bass, and Me).

TV Japan

Rollin' in the backlash, gulpin' down the strychnine (Luedtke)
Lickin' up the discount, salty from the calamine (Massey/Luedtke)
Standin' in the Old Style, Oh God I feel pure (Hass/Luedtke)
Ride in on the reptiles, shiney from the new year (Luedtke)

TV Japan

Betty's in the picture, counting all the old scenes (Yeske)
Chrystler makes a good van, Levi makes a good jean (Hass)
Shadows in the sunroom, passed out on the bean bag (Yeske/Hass)
Leather in my velcro, greasin' up the porno mag (Yeske)

TV Japan

Holdin' down the disco, hopin' for a shoe shine (Luedtke)
Working with the Monkees, stilly itchy from the calamine (Yeske/Luedtke)
Settlin' all the old scores, payin off the old whores (Massey/Yeske)
Houses of the Holy, In Through the Out Door (Hass/Led Zeppelin, natch)

TV Japan

So there you have it.
